Service Learning
At NKU, learning is about more than textbooks and course work. Developing your sense of responsibility to the community is integrated into the curriculum so that when you graduate, you’re prepared not just as a professional in the work force but as a citizen of the world.
This isn’t just theory; it’s action. You will learn to identify community needs, think about solutions, engage in interaction with nonprofit leaders, evaluate funding proposals, and engage in a deliberative group decision-making process.
The Scripps Howard Center for Civic Engagement offers resources and sponsors projects that engage students and faculty in service learning. In 2007, for example, students and faculty traveled to Mazamitla and Guadalajara, Mexico, to offer service to those communities.
